Forecast for the Future

"Every individual without exception bears a potential writer within himself. The reason is that everyone has trouble accepting the fact that he will disappear unheard of and unnoticed in an indifferent universe, and everyone wants to make himself into a universe of words before it's too late.

Once the writer in every individual comes to life (and that time is not that far off), we are in for an age of universal deafness and lack of understanding."

- Milan Kundera, The Book of Laughter and Forgetting

Week 7, Day 6/7: Acrylic Painting, Pt Deux

I've been wrecked this week--hyperliving hyperactivity is catching up to me, it seems. I left work early on Friday because I've been getting sick and wanted to go home and rest, and then slept and took the night off. Yesterday I hung around the house most of the day and relaxed, and decided to use do more painting for my art activities, including finishing Monday's painting and beginning a new one.

Black hair, lined in black

I also decided I needed to immortalize Sir Otis.

Getting started to make a spitting image

And here he is, nearly done (to be finished tonight)

Now I'm going down to Ben D's for some photography instruction and graphic design tutorials to make up for Friday's day off. And, of course, I go running when I get home tonight. More to come later.

I think that if you are going to use black outlines, make it extreme and outline everything. Otherwise, its not enough and you might as well not have done it in the first place. I like Otis. Much love.

I don't know how to teach composition... other than making suggestions on where my eyes/brain intuitively go. If only JB could suffer through semester long, 3 hour 2d design classes! What would be most effective, I think, would be some quality time spent in the City's museums with some friends pointing out the pros and cons of artistic decision making.
